Road safety incidents are a major issue in Pakistan because traffic laws are not enforced, proper traffic management, adequate road infrastructure, and proper policing have resulted in many road deaths. There is also a dearth of accountability, particularly when wealthy individuals kill members of the middle and lower middle classes through reckless driving and never face consequences for their actions. Recently, there was a violent accident in Karachi’s Karsaz neighborhood. Amna Arif and Arif, the father and daughter, were struck by the wife of Gul Ahmed Energy Limited, Natasha Danish Iqbal, and tragically died. In the accident, four more people sustained injuries.
Allegedly under the influence of alcohol, the woman crushed the father and daughter beneath her car. The woman was stopped and turned over to the police by those in attendance. The woman was not rational even after she crushed six people, as evidenced by the videos that went viral:
