He was the nephew of Maqbool Ahmed Sabri, a member of the well-known “Sabri Brothers alliance,” and the well-known Qawwal Ghulam Farid Sabri’s son. Amjad Sabri became well-known for his live Qawali singing. Among the most well-known Qawwals in South Asia was him. Mujaddid Amjad Sabri, his son, successfully carried on his father’s Qawwali recitation legacy after his untimely death and is currently performing live.

Mujaddid Amjad Sabri and Babur, the son of Junaid Jamshed, recently appeared on Nadir Ali’s podcast. Each of them recalled their fathers. Mujaddid gave fascinating details of his father’s close call with Indian robbers.

Speaking about it, Mujaddid Amjad stated, “Amjad Sabri had to travel to Delhi from Jhansi, India, where he was doing the show, in order to catch his flight to Lahore in Delhi. However, the Jhansi audience refused to let him leave, and he continued to recite for the entire evening, extending the event for an additional three hours. Although he had planned the road trip, locals stopped him because it was late at night. When they arrived at a tea stall at night, the proprietors were already playing Bhar Do Jholi. Baba’s driver informed the tea stall owners that Amjad Sabri’s father wrote the song and that he was a major Qawwal. They forced him to sit there while they made him tea. Dangerous robbers were sitting close by, and when they learned about him, they approached him, greeted him, heard Qawali, and gave him gifts. In addition, they gave him advice on safe routes out of the area because robbers and decoits are hiding in the bushes because this is their time to commit robberies. This is the video’s link:
