Pakistanis Are Appalled & Speak Up for Sania Zehra
There is a widespread epidemic of violence against women in Pakistan. There are two camps in the nation: the one headed by Aurat Mrach claims to be working for the advancement of women, while Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and other celebrities claim to be defending the rights that Islam grants to women. But the reality is very different, with women being brutalized, raped, and beaten without any repercussions for the offenders, regardless of their social status. Noor Mukaddam, a victim from a powerful family, did not receive justice.
Today in Multan, a 20-year-old woman was brutalized and killed by her own husband. Twenty-year-old Sania Zehra was a mother of two boys, ages one and three, and she was also five months pregnant with her third child. Sania suffered from sexual assault, torture, fractures to her jaw, shattered bones, and tongue loss. Her spouse, Syed Ali Raza Bukhari, has absconded, and her in-laws attempted to portray it as a suicide. When a young woman from a powerful family was killed at the young age of 20, there was no support system for her. This is what transpired:
