HSY Disagrees with Maria B Regarding Farshi Shalwar

A recent fashion trend that is gaining popularity on social media is Farshi Shalwar. This classic yet fashionable ensemble can be found in nearly every designer’s latest collection. Girls are posting and sharing reels about it as well. Many people expressed their disapproval of the trend, though, and not everyone is a fan. A number of fashion designers and critics have recently provided fashion enthusiasts with explanations of this trend. On Nida Yasir’s Ramzan show Shaan e Sahoor, renowned Pakistani designer HSY also talked about the Farshi Shalwar trend that went viral.

HSY had a different viewpoint than Maria B, a fashion designer from Pakistan. He said that since Farshi Shalwar suits everyone so well, everyone ought to wear it.

“Everyone should get it stitched,” HSY said in reference to the situation. Given that Pakistani women come from a variety of backgrounds—some are modern, while others are modest—and that they all practice Islam, Farshi Shalwar is a perfect fit for our culture. They want to appear elegant but humble. Despite their desire to be in style, they are reluctant to flaunt their body’s curves. Farshi Shalwar gives them a stylish yet understated appearance.

“Let me tell you,” he continued, “you can wear a Farshi Shalwar with a long shirt that falls to your knees. It looks really chic and sophisticated with a long shirt. The idea that it should only be worn with incredibly short shirts is false. Long-shirted Farshi Shalwars are part of my collection. To improve their overall appearance, even larger women can choose longer cuts (chaak) on their shirts. The video can be found at this link:
