The Olympic champion from Pakistan, Arshad Nadeem, has returned to his home nation. He made history last night by becoming the first person from Pakistan to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field, and he gave Pakistan immense pride. Both the airport and the streets of Lahore greeted him warmly. At the Lahore airport, the champion was greeted by his brother and father. His mother and his village brethren came to greet him when he arrived in Mian Chanu today.
At the immigration gates, father and son shared a heartfelt moment as Arshad’s father hugged him. The entire country was moved by their tears.
